Mr. T pities the fool who misses the second pre-order for his first WWE Elite action figure.
After the San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Mr. T WWE Mattel Elite sold out in less than a day on Entertainment Earth, the figure will receive a second pre-order on the Mattel Creations Instagram page starting at noon EST on Thursday, July 23.
The Mr. T figure comes in ring attire that resembles an appearance on the premiere episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event in 1985, which aired before the A-Team star teamed with Hulk Hogan against “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff at the first WrestleMania.
Some collectors have criticized the attire choice for depicting T in blue tights instead of the red ring tights he wore during the first WrestleMania. Others have described the figure as a “Miekina Mashup,” a phrase used in the wrestling figure collecting community for WWE Mattel designer Bill Miekina’s penchant for taking pieces of various ring looks and molding them into a singular figure release.
Nevertheless, there have been hints from Mattel’s WWE Elite Squad that while this is Mr. T’s first time in the line, it may not be his last.
At $29.99, the figure quickly sold out on Entertainment Earth, with a one T per buyer limit. Mattel Creations will likely offer it for the same price, so expect another sell out.
The exact nature of Mattel Creations is still unknown, but there’s speculation that it could be the toy maker’s answer to Hasbro Pulse, with exclusive offerings and possibly crowd-funded collectibles.
