Boss Fight Studio: Legends of Lucha Libre Release Now Likely for Fall

Boss Fight Studio provided an update on the progress of its Legends of Lucha Libre line last week. In a behind the scenes video, Boss Fight Studio partner and art director Erik Araña shared that the first figures in the line — Penta Zero M (Pentagon) and Rey Fenix — and two accessory sets will likely be released in mid-fall.

The figures had been slated for a summer release, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic hampering production, they were delayed until later this year. Araña said he still hopes to have the figures out earlier, but it’s a long shot.

Looking ahead to future releases, Araña said Boss Fight has as many as six waves planned, featuring current and former lucha libre stars.

The lineups for the next two waves of the premium line are already set, with Konnan and Lady Maravilla in wave 2, and Tinieblas Jr. and Laredo Kid in wave 3.

Araña also discussed the Fanaticos line, which is essential a basic line with less articulation. Featured in that line will be Penta Zero M, Rey Fenix, Taya Valkyrie and Juventud Guerrera wearing a mask. The first wave of Fanaticos is expected to be released in early 2021.

Boss Fight’s Araña and marketing manager Meredith Franks also conducted a live-streamed interview with Masked Republic president Kevin Kleinrock on the various Lucha Libre toy lines to come, the potential addition of a wrestling ring, customizing figures and much more. Watch the discussion below.
