The planned AEW Unrivaled launch today at Walmart stores didn’t go according to plan.
The first wave of AEW action figures from Jazwares — featuring Cody and Brandi Rhodes, the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho — were supposed to be available at the world’s largest brick-and-mortar retailer’s stores on Monday, August 3. However, many collectors reported that they were unable to find the figures.
Jazwares partner Jeremy Padawer addressed the situation on social media and noted that the figures could be on store shelves as soon as Monday night.
Action figure collectors should know by now that figure launches never go quite as planned, especially during a global pandemic.
Nevertheless, some collectors scored, including one in Irving, Texas.
So the hunt continues, but collectors can’t say they weren’t warned. Over the weekend, Padawer explained that the first few waves of AEW figures could “be short at retail” to avoid overshipping and losing retailers’ faith.
If you want to save some gas money, Ringside Collectibles has the first wave of figures — and second wave — up for pre-order and back order. A full set of the first wave ships in early November, while individual characters hip anywhere from early September to late October.
The second wave of AEW figures — featuring Pentagon, Rey Fenix, Hangman Page, Dustin Rhodes, MJF and Jon Moxley — ship in late October.
