Playmobil WWE The Rock Monster Truck & Blind Bag Review

I opened a trio of blind bags and The Rock with Monster Truck about a week ago with my daughter. She was totally into the blind bags, and loved the mystery of who it’s going to be. There are seven options in the first wave: Cody Rhodes, Hulk Hogan, Roman Reigns, John Cena, Triple H and Rhea Ripley.

Round 1 was “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. I should have read the instructions on putting him together to save some time, but I figured it out eventually. He’s probably my favorite out of the first wave as far as likeness and attire choice.

I don’t love the copyright and trademark on the outside of the vest and very visible. That seems like something that could have been concealed on the inside. Still, it’s a good looking little stylized figure.

Next up was Hulk Hogan. This is a look at the Hulkster straight out of the bag.

Hulk cleaned up nicely (and spoiler alert, we snagged a second Hulk in the third blind bag. Them’s the breaks).

Each figure comes with a tiny clear display stand. That’s a nice touch.

As for The Rock’s monster truck, it’s a cool piece once it’s built. There are a few baffling things to me, especially with The Rock figure. I’m not a fan of applying stickers to the figure, such as the name on the trunks, or having to dress him with his knee and elbow pads.

As for the truck, putting it together isn’t that difficult. There are some little things that don’t make sense. The Brahma Bull logo also doesn’t stay on the truck even with the little locking mechanism.

Once it’s built, the truck is a fun little piece. It makes a whirring noise when pushed on a hardwood floor. The springs on the wheels also give it a nice bouncing action.

Overall, I’d call this a solid debut for Playmobil. It’s not perfect, but no first set is. There are kinks to work out (the stickers, the pads, the copyright/trademark words on the clothes and even the likenesses), but this is a fun line that may be a gateway for littler kids. I’m not sure how these will hold up from a smash-them-together-and-wrestle standpoint though.

The bling bags are a nice wrinkle too. Sure, it’s annoying for a completist, but it was definitely my kid’s favorite part.
