The PowerTown saga took several turns over the last week, including the toy company’s managing partner breaking his silence and posting a response in the Major Wrestling Figure Podcast’s Faebook group to a claim that the company is out of business.
PowerTown’s Steve Rosenthal made the following reply to a joke comment about PowerTown shutting down in the Major Pod’s Facebook group.
“PowerTown has not and is now going out of business!” Rosenthal wrote. “We understand the implications assumed by our lack of updates. With the decision rendered today re: tariffs and with Chinese NY [New Year] ending … PowerTown will soon be providing updates re: Remcos … TNA and Ultras 2. All Orders will be fulfilled.”
Rosenthal’s Facebook comment appears to be the first comments from the company since a September live stream with Greg Gagne and Magnum TA (Terry Allen). His comments come as the company has yet to fulfill pre-orders taken in 2024 for TNA, Ultras 2 and Remco All-Stars.
Wrestling Figure News reached out to Rosenthal and Allen in January but did not receive a response.
Wrestlers Matt Cardona and Jordynne Grace both posted comments about PowerTown’s business practices on social media.
Cardona wrote: “After initially hating on PowerTown when they started, I became such a supporter/fan of PowerTown at one point. In my opinion, the figures were incredible. Maybe the best Matt Cardona fig. As a toy maker, I know that shit happens. But the way this situation has been handled has been disgusting. I don’t think they can come back from this. I hope we all get our figures.”
Grace responded to a fan who pointed out that the support@powertownwrestling.com email bounced back.
“Genuinely embarrassed and wish there was something that we could do,” Grace wrote. “I know all the wrestlers involved have reached out individually, many times, to try to get answers and have received no response.”
Meanwhile, a former PowerTown contractor claimed that the company still owes him thousands of dollars for work rendered. However, he deleted the posts today.
PowerTown has three outstanding pre-orders that its collected money on and customers, including myself, have hundreds of dollars – if not thousands – tied up in them. The company has not offered avenues to cancel those orders. Credit card companies have told many people that too much time has passed and it’s outside of their protection window.
The WrestlingFigs Forum has become a go-to for tracking the timeline of this saga. I’d encourage you to check it out.
Additionally, Kyle Peterson continues to discuss PowerTown in his Saturday news programs.
