Watch: Ringside Comic-Con Q&A with the Mattel WWE Team

Ringside Collectibles just posted the annual Q&A with the Mattel WWE team members Steve Ozer and Bill Miekina from San Diego Comic-Con 2024.

  • Mattel is working on the plastic on the Ultimate Fiend for a black light effect. It may or may not happen;
  • New ankle articulation is rolling out and there will be new foot tooling and articulation going forward;
  • The WWE team would love to make Abyss or Kurt Angle TNA figures if the opportunities arise;
  • New legends are on the way;
  • Mattel is aware the pinless joints are too tight and the company is working on improving them;
  • Some of the tooling budget will go toward giving women’s figures unique torsos;
  • A new crowdfund or similar project is being worked on behind the scenes, likely for 2025;
  • Work on Jacob Fatu started immediately;
  • Mattel will be celebrating a WWE-related anniversary in 2025 with multiple figures;
  • A never before done title accessory is being worked on and Bill doesn’t believe people will see it coming;
  • No update on Macho Man;
  • Other executions of figures with blood are being discussed with WWE.

There’s more. Watch the video for the full details.

  1. New ankle articulation is rolling out and there will be new foot tooling and articulation going forward

    – This is interesting, no idea what it entails, but it could be nice to see some new boot articulation. Especially since they still use the old basic boots for women, and hopefully they get rid of the old Cena shoes mold

    The WWE team would love to make Abyss or Kurt Angle TNA figures if the opportunities arise

    – This could be fun, especially if they do more TNA stars. I would love for Mattel to have a deal with TNA to make figures for them

    Mattel is aware the pinless joints are too tight and the company is working on improving them

    – this is by far the best news. I love the pinless legs but they are sometimes so tight you can break the figure. It’s been a thorn in my side, and most collectors. So I would like to see what improvements they can get up to.
