Review: AEW Blood & Guts Darby Allin vs. Brody King Ringside Exclusive

The AEW Blood & Guts series, alongside the Supreme Collection, continues to be among the strongest offerings from Jazwares. The latest 2-pack features Darby Allin and Brody King, a return to form following the Wheeler Yuta figure that was a bit awkward in hand and hard to stand due to his sneakers.

It probably goes without saying that Brody is among the best figures from Jazwares. The tattoo detail along with the crimson mask head sculpts (the screaming head is unique to this set) are some of Jazwares’ finest work to date. Brody also comes with his lock chain, which was a key part of the finish to the coffin match on August 10, 2022, during Quake by the Lake.

Another nice touch is Brody’s bloody fists. It should go without saying that wrestling figures should include fists, but that’s not always been the case. Darby does come with fists too. Baby steps.

The only issue I’ve had with the Brody figure is that his left arm is super tight. This was an issue with the Unmatched 8 figure – I had one that the arm snapped off – and this one is needs to be heated up to loosen it. I hope it’s just a me issue, but it doesn’t seem to be.

Darby is the standard model that we’ve seen before. Both the screaming head and the straight face are bloody versions of the Unrivaled 13 heads. The face paint has a worn look, which is another nice touch.

The figure poses smoothly, like every other Darby release. The body also shows some black marks, which I believe was from Brody’s own face paint.

Among the best parts of the set is Darby’s skateboard, which doesn’t have wheels but instead features tacks across it. It’s such a unique accessory that it’s worth calling out.

4.5/5 stars
