Black card variants are back.

The Hart FoundationBret “Hit Man” Hart and Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart – WWE Coliseum Collection Ultimate Edition figures will mark the return of the rare variant packaging, Mattel WWE global brand marketing manager Steve Ozer revealed on his social pages today.

Ozer shared images of the set, including the black cards. The San Diego Comic Con exclusive Sgt. Slaughter figure was the only other figure to have a black card variant. The variant packaging was produced in the hundreds and is the most rare Mattel Ultimate figure officially released.

The Hart Foundation go up for pre-order at 9 a.m. PT/Noon ET on Thursday, March 14. The Coliseum Collection 2-packs have historically retailed for $70.

  1. Love these figures and the line, but..are they TRYING to make collecting unpleasant? So many ultimate completists out there – and their fidelity is met with arbitrary packaging variants. So damn lame.

  2. Greedy toy company! Just glad the figure themselves don’t have variant paint schemes. It would have been nice to have both the blue and black cards for “swappable” display purposes. Needless to say, hope to get at least one of each card. It’s a shame all of these interesting Jim Neidhart figures are coming after he passed away.

  3. The black card variant set also includes a different divider card. The divider card is black on one side and the other side features a Hart Foundation heart logo.
