Zombie Sailor Toys Announces Plans for ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage 4.5 Inch & 6 Inch Figures

The plot thickens.

A day after word spread that the WWE Ultimate Edition 18 “Macho Man” Randy Savage from WrestleMania VIII had been canceled, Zombie Sailor Toys announced plans to launch “The Savage Legacy Collection” and showed off a Mania VII Heels and Faces retro figure.

“We are creating OFFICIALLY LICENSED action figures of the one and only ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage,” Zombie Sailor shared on social media.

Zombie added that he’s partnered with Savage’s “career long costume designer, prestigious fashion icon, Michael Braun” to serve as a costume consultant for the series.

In a blog post, the toy maker called The Savage Legacy Collection a new sub-series to Heels and Faces that has been more than a year in development.

“Featuring the most authentic and flamboyant 4.5-inch-scale and 6-inch-scale adult collectible action figures of the the one and only, ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage!” the post continued.

“Our initial release, ‘Macho King’ Randy Savage, depicts one of Randy Savage’s most captivating looks and is already well into production, along with more than two dozen other future Wrestling’s Heels and Faces releases.”

The first figure is expected in “early 2024.” The toy will be designed by the legendary Ron Rudat, sculpted by Alex Heinke, with paint and fabrication by Jennifer Johnson.

To recap, Zombie is producing Hasbro-style retros and 6-inch modern scale figures of “Macho Man” Randy Savage, the first of which will be out in 2024.

Questions still remain as to what exactly happened that would prevent Mattel from releasing what had to be an already mass produced figure in the Ultimate Edition 18.

Although Savage has not been exclusive to any one toy maker, he has been a fixture of the Mattel WWE line. The most likely reasons for his figure being canceled could be a lack of renewal of a licensing deal between Savage’s estate and WWE. I’d be surprised if a deal isn’t eventually reached, however, those issues likely are magnified by the untimely death of Savage’s brother, Lanny Poffo.

For now, collectors will have to turn their attention to independent toy producers to get their Macho Man fix.

Here’s another look at the Zombie figures.
