Mattel Creations on WCW Nitro Stage Crowdfund: ‘No More Nitro’

The WCW Monday Nitro stage dream is officially dead. Mattel Creations shared the following message today about the stage not meeting the crowdfunding goal last week. Here’s the official word:

“We want to thank the WWE Universe for your interest and support. Unfortunately, the WCW Monday Nitro™ Entrance Stage Crowdfund did not meet our initial funding goal, so it won’t be created and you won’t be charged. If you live outside the U.S. and were charged, you will see a refund within 3-5 business days. We have so many other things planned, so stay tuned to Mattel Creations for more exciting projects.”

The Nitro stage needed 5,000 units sold to reach the minimum order quantity needed to make the stage, plus two Ultimate Edition figures (Scott Steiner and Rey Mysterio). The stage reached 78% funded (3,932) but fell short. It’s definitely a bummer for those of us who wanted the stage. We’ll have to wait to see how Mattel approaches WWE crowdfunding projects in the future, but I’d be shocked if we see a scale entrance stage in the future or a project north of $250.
