The complicated and confusing distribution of the Target exclusive WWE Legends Elite line will continue across the next two waves of action figures.
Mattel WWE marketing manager Steve Ozer confirmed during an Instagram unboxing yesterday that Legends 11 — Bam Bam Bigelow, Big John Studd, “Macho Man” Randy Savage (chase variant), and Scott Hall — will not go up for pre-order. Ozer didn’t offer a reason why there won’t be a pre-sell for this batch of figures, which will be available online and via brick-and-mortar Target stores this month. So the hunt begins in late July or early August.
Ozer offered additional details on the WrestlingFigs.com forum, including that production of Studd is lagging behind the other three figures.

Even without the pre-sell, Ozer said the figures won’t be scarce. The figures will ship individually, with heavier amounts of “anchor talents,” such as Savage.

The good news is that pre-orders will return for Legends 12 — Kevin Nash, Junkyard Dog (chase variant), “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, and Billy Gunn — Ozer confirmed during the unboxing. As expected, those will occur around the San Diego Comic Con At-Home event (July 23-25) and release in the fall.

Distribution of the Legends figures has been curious since the relaunch of the line, from delayed and canceled pre-orders, to a bounty of John Cena and Big Van Vader figures in stores, while DDP and Brutus Beefcake were exclusive to Target online. The latter figures are expected to ship this month. Although DDP and Beefcake are currently listed as “sold out,” more are expected to be available. That’s going to make getting chase Beefcake figures even more challenging.
Ozer offered more insights throughout the Q&A portion of the unboxing. Here are some highlights.
More first-time-in-the-line championships are on the way. So are first-time legends, which Ozer said might “shock” us.
Ultimate Edition pre-orders are coming soon, around Comic Con. Amazon exclusive Fan Takeover Ultimate Edition Hulk Hogan is expected to ship later this summer or in the fall.
Double-jointed elbows are coming across the entire Elite line. That includes Legends, WrestleMania, Survivor Series, etc.
More news is coming before Comic Con.
Mr. Fuji and Slick are musts for the line, should they ever become available to make.
