We are back with an in-depth look at the new San Diego Comic-Con 2025 exclusive Mattel WWE Ultimate John Cena figure. Thanks to the folks over at Mattel for sending over this bad boy for me to unbox and photograph.
Up first, we have the outer packaging that has a really nice shine and finish to it. The box highlights many moments of Cena’s career over the years much like this figure does. Once you crack the outer box open, you see this beautiful sight of an Ultimate version of the classic WWE Elite packaging from the early days of the line. I love this callback to the first waves. Just a really fun nod to the history of this series.
The back of the box features the many different Ultimate Cenas over the years, as well as a window to see the back of his shirt. The front has a huge window showcasing Cena in a running pose, while wearing one of his iconic entrance attires. Not to mention the many heads and hands he comes with and a handful of title belts of his over the years.
After gently removing him from the package, you see all of the awesome accessories he comes with. The belts are customized to him. Most of them are at least, which makes this a nice addition to the collection. I’m not going to lie, when I initially saw all the belts, I was disappointed as I figured it was just a rehash of previously released. Thankfully, they customized a lot to him, which is a great detail. The heads are the same style heads we’ve received in the past. But the one on his body has a molded on hat, which is awesome. One of the alternate heads comes with a removable hat, so you can showcase him either way. Lastly, he has his removable shirt and chain.

Cena has the typical Ultimate articulation. He comes with black wristbands and an armband, plus features some detailed boxer shorts sticking out around his waistline. His shorts have nice denim paint apps to make them pop.
Overall, this is a pretty cool Comic-Con exclusive. I liked it a bit better once I had it in hand. The belts are a nice touch and the new head with the hat is pretty cool, too.
I understand why Mattel went with Cena for this year. But I’d have loved to see him with swappable outfits and heads to give him different looks from over the years. I think that would’ve been a lot more fun/interesting personally, as a lot of his Ultimates look the same.
Nevertheless, it is still a nice figure of Cena, and I do recommend it, especially if you don’t have his others or even just want some title belts customized to him.
