Storm Collectibles continues to make some of the best action figures on the market. El Desperado is a continuation of a foundation built with multiple Jushin Thunder Ligers and Minoru Suzuki. The biggest drawback continues to be that Storm’s dalliance in wrestling figures is typically a once a year affair (with a chase figure included).
This is the standard version of El Desperado (white mask highlights versus gold). I feel like the white version is the definitive look for El Desperado.

Storm proved its wrestling figure chops with Liger. Suzuki was admittedly pretty plain (and still an amazing figure). But El Desperado is a return to that insane form with Liger.

El Desperado’s mask/head sculpt is second to none with great detail. The figure’s eyes are piercing. There’s a nice texture to the mask. However, I noticed the wings on the mask pop out and could easily be lost. They pop back in, but it’s a bit annoying that they’re not glued in.

I was surprised that El Desperado’s pants are soft goods. The pants have a premium feel and you can pose him around pretty easily in them. I get how some people might prefer them to just be sculpted.

There are a lot of little details that add up here. The black painted fingernails, the menacing hand gestures, the fringe on the tights. Excellent execution all around.

The biggest knock on Storm is that it makes too few wrestling figures. Hopefully the company can pick up more New Japan stars and some other Japanese legends.
