Epic Toys Pauses Fulfillment of Sabu Uncensored Figure Due to Design Flaw

Epic Toys announce today that it will cease fulfillment of the Uncensored Sabu 6-inch figure until a design flaw that has led to the legs snapping off is fixed. .

“We now understand that a different plastic material that is prone to damage was mistakenly used in mass production on the cross piece that connects the legs with the torso. This plastic material is different to that in the samples we received,” the company wrote. “Once the factory return from Chinese New Year, they will immediately start rectification and put replacements into production as a priority.”

Epic is offering to replace damaged figures that made their way to customers.

It’s unclear how long it will take for the corrected versions to be made and then shipped to customers.

“Unfortunately, we don’t have a timeframe for replacements yet but will provide an update once the factory reopens,” the company wrote. “We’d like to sincerely apologise for this and for the further delay this will cause. We understand this will be very frustrating.

“We know that nearly two years is far too long for customers to be waiting for this figure. However, we want to ensure complete honesty and that products are of a high standard that customers rightfully deserve.”

Here’s the full statement from Epic:

IMPORTANT STATEMENT: Uncensored Sabu.

We are aware of issues with some Uncensored Sabu’s leg joints breaking on movement. This is an issue that we cannot accept and we cannot allow customers to receive a faulty product.

These issues were not present in the sign-off sample we received before mass production started. Whilst we had no input into the concept or design of this figure, we are truly gutted this has happened.

We have already alerted the factory to this issue and have been in discussion with them to investigate why this has happened.

We now understand that a different plastic material that is prone to damage was mistakenly used in mass production on the cross piece that connects the legs with the torso. This plastic material is different to that in the samples we received.

Once the factory return from Chinese New Year, they will immediately start rectification and put replacements into production as a priority.

Therefore, we are pausing fulfilment of the Uncensored Sabu figures.

If you have already received your order from our American partners, @theasylumwrestlingstore or @figure_collections, and it shows signs of damage, we will replace it once the new figures are complete. Please get in touch with the store you ordered from to let them know.

Orders through Chella and Wrestling Trader will also be halted pending replacements.

All unfulfilled orders are safe and remain unchanged but will now receive the new Sabu replacements when complete.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a timeframe for replacements yet but will provide an update once the factory reopens.

We’d like to sincerely apologise for this and for the further delay this will cause. We understand this will be very frustrating.

We know that nearly two years is far too long for customers to be waiting for this figure. However, we want to ensure complete honesty and that products are of a high standard that customers rightfully deserve.

Thank you for your understanding,

Epic Toys.
